After three intense and adventurous years, with more than 10,000 visitors from Moravia, Medellín and around the world, the rental contract for the first Taller Tropical ended in April 2021. The temporary structure was dismantled and its materials were stored to be reused in a larger and long-term building. Based on the learnings of the first one and co-creation workshops with the community, a new concept has been set up. On four floors, it combines a cooking school, a recycling FabLab, artist residencies and an open multi-use space. The goal is to build a self-organized cultural center for experimental education, collaborative learning and cultural exchange that also serves as a sustainable prototype in the informal context.

Después de tres intensos y aventureros años en el primer Taller Tropical, con más de 10.000 visitantes de Moravia, Medellín y todo el mundo, se acabó el contrato de arrendamiento en abril de 2021. La estructura temporal fue desmontada y sus materiales fueron almacenados para ser reutilizados en un edificio más grande y de larga duración. A partir de los aprendizajes del primero y talleres de co-creación con la comunidad, se ha desarrollado un nuevo concepto. En cuatro pisos, combina una escuela de cocina, un FabLab de reciclaje, residencias para el intercambio y un espacio abierto de usos múltiples. El objetivo es construir un centro cultural autoorganizado para la educación experimental, el aprendizaje colaborativo y el intercambio cultural que también sirva como prototipo sostenible en el contexto popular.

Nach drei intensiven und spannenden Jahren, mit mehr als 10.000 Besuchern aus Moravia, Medellín und der ganzen Welt, ist der Mietvertrag für das erste Taller Tropical im April 2021 ausgelaufen. Die temporäre Struktur wurde abgebaut und ihre Materialien eingelagert, um in einem größeren und langfristigen Nachfolgeprojekt wiederverwendet zu werden. Auf Grundlage der Erfahrungen des ersten Prototyps wurde in Workshops mit der Community ein neues Konzept entwickelt. Auf vier Etagen vereint es eine Kochschule, ein Recycling FabLab, Künstlerresidenzen und einen offenen Multifunktionsraum. Ziel ist es, ein selbstorganisiertes Kulturzentrum für experimentelle Bildung, gemeinschaftliches Lernen und kulturellen Austausch zu schaffen, das auch als nachhaltiger Prototyp im informellen Kontext dient.
